FAQ Welcome to the
Frequently Asked Questions section of Our Million Word Story. Here you
will have any inquiries answered about Our Million Word Story. If you have
any further questions, feel free to contact
me.
Question 1: How much does it cost for
each word
Absolutely nothing. If you really wanted... you
could write the whole story! All you have to do is create an account (or
if you have already, just log in), and you're ready to
go!
Question 2: How will I be recognized for
adding to the Million Word Story?
When you click on the Read
Story link (above), you will see a list of names that shows who has added
to the story. If you click on the
names, it shows the actual part of the story that they have contributed...
For example...
NAME John
David
Question 3: Well I guess this site looks ok, but how does it work anyway? Oh yeah, and, why is my text blue when I submit it to your story, when most of it is black?
This site is a place where creative writers can get together to work on a large project that would normally not be possible to create alone. This applies especially to people that aren't really writers, but just enjoy writing a paragraph or two in their free time. As you can probably see, our goal as a group is to create a one million word story. That's about 4000 pages. Sound hard? Well it isn't.
It's actually quite easy. If everyone contributes a little, we could do this VERY quickly.
To start, you simply have to create an account. After this, feel free to add to the story whenever you'd like, or simply read the story too.
You'll probably also
notice that any text that you add to the story is in blue. Why? Well, imagine this. People search up writing oppertunities on google, and find this site. 4/10 are interested, and lets say 2/10 read the story, while 1/10 create an account and add. (please note that these aren't real stats, they're just for the example) Now lets say that 10 000 people (ten thousand) found my site. If one in ten add to it, that would be one thousand people that I DON'T KNOW are adding to our story.
How do we know that they are all genuinely interested in being a part in this? What if they are just here to make fun, or ruin this? Well we have a solution. When you add text to the story, it's in blue, to show others that its content may not neccessarily be appropriate, and that what they are seeing could or could not be a true, genuine addition to the story. Once administration has reviewed the entry, we simply change its
color to black, therefore signifying that its content is proper.
Question 4: Will this story ever be
published? Would I still be recognized in the
book?
Whether or not the Million Word Story gets published
depends entirely upon its success. If it is relatively short, then no, it
will not be published. If it is lengthy enough and of good enough quality,
then why not?
At the back of the
book, you will be listed (according to the same system outlined in
Question 2).
NOTE: THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS BOOK
WILL BE PUBLISHED, EVEN IF IT ATTAINS ITS GOAL (ONE MILLION WORDS).
However, in any case, I will do my
best!
